"Fresh From the Oven"

     


Adult Cake & Pie Contests

Rules for Cake & Pie Contest




1. Entry fee for each Cake or Pie is $10 which includes Fair admission. Enter a Cake & a Pie for only $15.

2. Participants must be an amateur baker. One entry per person for each of the two categories (Pies & Cakes)

3. Cake & it's Frosting as well as Pie Crust & it's Filling must be made entirely from "scratch".

4. The entire cake or pie entry must be submitted for judging on cardboard or other food safe disposable setting.

5. Recipes must be submitted with the entry, printed on one side of 81/2" x 11" paper. Recipe must list all ingredients, quantities, and the preparation instructions. Entrant's name, address and phone # must be printed on the back side of all the pages. (All recipes and cakes will become the property of the Fair and will not be returned.)

6. Cakes can be multi-layered and pies can be single crust to double crust. All variations are welcome.

Cakes & Pies will be judged at the same time but each will have its own 1st to 3rd place winners.

Judging Criteria & Scoring

Overall Appearance (consistent shape/size/surface); decoration; overall appeal. Points 1-20
Taste (Cake & Frosting or Crust & Filling) Points 1-20
Creativity (The sky is the limit - Use your imagination) Points 1-20

1. Each of three (3) judges assigns a numerical value in each criteria category, without consulting with each other.
2. The cake and the pie receiving the highest total numerical value is the winner.
3. In the case of a tie, the judges wil judge the cakes or pies again. Decision of the judges is FINAL.

Junior Baking Contest "Cookies, Brownies & Bars"

Rules for Cookies, Brownies & Bars Contest

1. Entry fee is $10 which includes Fair admission.

2. Participants must be an amateur baker. One entry per person.

3. Cookies, Brownies or Bars must be made entirely from "scratch".

4. Entries must be submitted for judging on cardboard or other food safe disposable setting.

5. Recipes must be submitted with the entry, printed on one side of 8 1/2" x 11" paper. Recipe must list all ingredients, quantities, and the preparation instructions. Entrant's name, address and phone # must be printed on the back side of all the pages. (All recipes and cakes will become the property of the Fair and will NOT be returned.)
