Rules & Guidelines

Please Read: 

GENERAL RULES

  • Entry fee is $5 and includes the exhibitor’s fair admission on show day. All others must pay fair admission to enter.
  • Ideal show for a student’s first exposure to showing an animal.
  • This show is based on showmanship and the student’s ability to handle and know the breed of the rabbit they are showing.
  • To compete, students must meet all the requirements below:
  • Must be in grades 4 th – 12 th
  • Must have owned the rabbit they are showing starting June 1st
  • Must be able to bring their rabbit to the judge’s table themselves
  • Must be able to tell the judges all about the breed of rabbit they are showing, including/limited to:
  • Age, Breed, ARBA weight standard for the age and breed of the rabbit they are showing, uses of the specific rabbit breed, gender of rabbit
  • Must be able to perform a general health check on the rabbit in front of the judges, checking the rabbits:
  • Teeth, Gender, Feet Pads, Nose, Ears, and Condition of Body
  • Rabbits are not competing against each other; students are competing on their ability to articulate and present their rabbit, its breed standards, and perform a general health check.
  • The student’s rabbit needs to be free of all illnesses and completely clean before showing.
  • Any rabbit with signs of illness will be asked to be removed from the premises.
  • Students must bring their rabbit in their own carrier/cage. There will not be housing for rabbits on site.
  • Students enter this contest at their own risk, knowing that taking a rabbit into a public place can put it at risk for exposure to disease and illness.

Meat Pen

Students who want to participate in the meat pen auction will need the following:

  • Three rabbits of the same commercial breed by July 26 th that are approximately 6 weeks old at the time of possession.
  • All three rabbits must be 12 weeks old (or close to it) by the show on September 6th
  • Be entering 4 th – 12 th grade
  • Sign up for the meat pen show by August 20th

Costume Show

Students wishing to participate in the costume show must do the following:

  • Provide a costume and a scene for any breed of rabbit
  • Be entering 4 th – 12 th grade
  • No sign-up required

Students will be judged on creativity and their rabbit’s ability to participate.
